The South African Journal of Science is an open access journal. All content is freely available. 
All articles are published under a Creative Commons licence. Users are welcome to share and adapt the content provided the source is credited.   
The South African Journal of Science meets the criteria to be listed on the Directory of Open Access Journals. The journal was awarded the DOAJ Seal in 2016: a mark of certification for open access journals that achieve a high level of openness, adhere to best practice and high publishing standards.
ASSAf is a member of CrossRef.
We use CrossRef Simililarity Check (iThenticate) in our peer-review workflow.
We implement CrossMark to give our readers the current status of a piece of content. Any updates to articles (such as a correction or retraction) will be indicated on the article landing page and within the file formats.
